Haptic & Tactile Communication

Workshop @ Kulturverein zur Schießhalle
Tuesday 25 Nov
14:00 ‑ 16:00

Project description

The project explores haptic perception and the development of touch as a primary way to understand, orient oneself and interact with the world. The haptic laboratory is conceived as a space where the components of tactile perception—pressure, temperature, consistency, shape, texture and movement—are studied and enhanced through dedicated activities. Clay will be used as a versatile material that can be modelled and shaped, offering a pliable medium to refine tactile sensitivity and explore three-dimensional forms. Participants will recognise shapes and structures through touch and engage in exercises that strengthen precision, sensitivity and awareness, working on the connection between perception, gesture and movement. They will discover alternative ways of reading, communicating and interpreting reality through tactile signals. The activities are accessible to children, adults and people with sensory or motor disabilities. The laboratory aims to offer educational, rehabilitative and inclusive experiences that broaden perceptual abilities, support autonomy and encourage interdisciplinary research on new forms of sensory interaction and on touch as a meaningful tool for communication and social participation.
