alt text as poetry
Worksession @ Kulturverein zur Schießhalle
Friday 28 Nov
14:00 ‑ 17:00
Project Description
"alt text" are descriptions read out by screen readers when encountering an image. They help people who are blind or have low vision get informations from images that are otherwise not accessible for screen-readers.
The session will follow the structure of the workbook "Alt Text as Poetry". It's exercises explore the potential of alt text as an artistic medium, with the main intent of making the internet more accessible for everyone.
The book is also an invitation to reflect about language and perception. To question what we show and how we and others think about it.
The book was written by Bojana Coklyat and Finnegan Shannon.
The whole workbook is acccessible as text or audio in many different formats on their website.
Accessibility: This workshop will take place in the first floor and is therefore not barrier-free because of stairs. If you want to take part but cannot because of this, let us know via dsignweek@servus.at or info@potatopublishing.at and we will try to figure something out.
